FISH:

20% of Uganda’s surface is covered by fresh water bodies. These include River Nile, the longest in the world and Lake Victoria the second biggest in the world. Other major Lakes include Albert, Kyoga, Edward, and George. Additionally there are 160 minor Lakes as well as other numerous rivers and wetlands. This entire infrastructure provides abudance of fish and other diversity of aquatic products. For fish alone,over 350 species are known to exist in Uganda’s water resources. A lot of fish therefore is produced for domestic consumption and export. The types that have dominated the export market are the Nile Perch(Lates Niloticus)which is whitish in appearance resembling Cod and the Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus) which is also whitish in colour.
